About Sheikh Saleh Serafi

Sheikh Saleh bin Hamza Sayrafi is a Saudi businessman. He is the owner of the “Mohamed Saleh Sayrafi Foundation,” and a shareholder in “Bank Al Bilad,” “Tayba Holding Company,” and “Mecca Construction and Development Company.” He published a book entitled “The Journey of Struggle in Money Exchange and Business,” which deals with his biography and reveals the beginnings of his work as a boy in his father’s exchange shop in Masa’a, through a long history in money exchange, until he became one of the most prominent figures in money exchange in the Saudi exchange market. The book’s introduction was written by His Royal Highness Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, who praised the biography of the businessman and banker Saleh Serafi and his journey in the world of business and finance and his spending a lot of money in charitable causes, especially centers for the disabled. The introduction to the book was also written by the late businessman Sheikh Saleh Abdullah Kamel, who expressed his admiration for the biography of Al-Sayrafi said: He taught us succession in the land.

Chair objectives

The establishment of the Sheikh Saleh Sarfi Chair comes within the framework of the partnership linking the Al-Maddad Foundation for Heritage, Culture and Arts and the Faculty of Medicine, Pharmacy and Dentistry in Fez. The establishment of this chair aims to enhance and strengthen research in the field of Arab-Islamic medical heritage by motivating researchers to dive into this sea of ​​precious pearls. The chair allocates a grant for the most important ongoing research on this subject and allocates a prize for the best annual publication in the field of the history of Arab-Islamic medicine. The Sheikh Saleh Serafi Chair also aims to form and disseminate knowledge by offering seminars and workshops for student researchers and specialized professors.


A partnership agreement between the Faculty of Medicine, Pharmacy and Dentistry in Fez (Heritage Committee) and the Sheikh Saleh Serafi Chair at Umm Al-Qura University in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

At the kind invitation of the House of Islamic Arts in Jeddah, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and within the framework of the opening of its new exhibition on “Stone Miles,” the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Pharmacy and Dentistry in Fez, Professor Sidi Adel Ibrahimi, and the coordinator of the Heritage Committee in the same college, Professor Bashir Benjloun, visited the Al-Maddad Foundation’s museum collection in Dar Islamic Arts in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, early March 2023.
This visit was an opportunity to sign a partnership agreement between the Faculty of Medicine, Pharmacy and Dentistry in Fez (Heritage Committee) and the Sheikh Saleh Serafi Chair at Umm Al-Qura University – in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
