The First International Symposium of the Sheikh Saleh Serafi Chair at Umm Al-Qura University: “The Moroccan Andalusian Medical Manuscript”
Thursday, May 25, 2023 – Faculty of Medicine, Pharmacy and Dentistry in Fez – Kingdom of Morocco | The Heritage Committee of the Faculty of Medicine, Pharmacy and Dentistry at Sidi Muhammad Ben Abdullah University in Fez (Morocco) and the Institute of Arabic Manuscripts affiliated with the Arab Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALCOSO), in partnership with the Sheikh Saleh Serafi Chair, at Umm Al-Qura University, organized an international symposium under the title: The Moroccan-Andalusian Medical Manuscript, On Thursday, May 25, 2023, at the Faculty of Medicine, Pharmacy and Dentistry in Fez – Kingdom of Morocco. This symposium commemorated the one thousandth anniversary of the death of the scholar Abu Amr al-Dani (known in his time as Ibn al-Sayrafi).
This activity is the first agreement signed between the Faculty of Medicine, Pharmacy and Dentistry in Fez and the Sheikh Saleh Serafi Chair at Umm Al-Qura University – Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The speech was opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Pharmacy and Dentistry in Fez, Engineer Anas Serafi, Secretary-General of the Al-Maddad Foundation, representative of the Sheikh Saleh Serafi Chair, and His Excellency the Director of the Institute of Arabic Manuscripts in Cairo, who stressed the necessity of working to open horizons of cooperation in the service of the history and heritage of Arab-Islamic medicine, introducing its figures and figures, and conveying Their knowledge and publications to contemporary generations.
The symposium was programmed into two sessions:
- The first session: Study of the Moroccan-Andalusian medical manuscript:
– The importance of studying the Moroccan Andalusian medical manuscript: A reading of the authorization of Abdullah bin Saleh Al-Kutami as an example – Dr. Muhammad Al-Labbar.
